Navigating and viewing documents |
Navigating and viewing documentsFreeway documents consist of individual pages. These pages hold the items which will display on your Web site. You are able to easily move to different pages and master pages in Freeway and change the way you view the them. Moving around a documentTo look at a different page, you can: · chose the page from the pop up menu at the bottom left of the screen. · click on a page's icon in the Site palette · click on an item's icon in the Site palette. At most view sizes, only part of the document is visible within the document window. To look at a different part of the page, you can: · use the Grabber hand to 'pull' the page around within the window (a little like scrolling). Hold down the Option key to change your current tool temporarily to the Grabber hand. Drag the mouse until you see the part of the page you want. Scaling the document viewTo look at a page in more or less detail, you can enlarge or reduce the scale of your view. There are several ways of doing this. Zooming to a new view size1. Either choose View/Zoom... or click on the Zoom indicator in the bottom left-hand corner of the document window and choose Other.... 2. In the Zoom text box, type a value for the view size you want (between the maximum 1000% of actual size and the minimum 5%). 3. Click OK. Zooming to a preset view sizeYou can choose three view sizes directly from the View menu: · Choosing Actual size displays the document at 100%. · Choosing Fit in window scales the view up or down to fit a page to the current area of the document window. · Choosing Thumbnails displays the pages of the document in miniature, at 5% of the actual size. This gives you a useful overview of the document. Little detail is visible but you can still make changes to the layout, as at any other view size. Zooming using the Magnifier toolThe Magnifier tool in the Tools palette allows you to zoom in quickly on a particular area of a page: 1. Select the Magnifier tool by clicking on its icon in the Tools palette. 2. Position the pointer over the page and click. The view is scaled up by the current zoom increment. The point on which you click becomes the center of the new view. To zoom out, hold down Option when you click. The plus sign in the pointer changes to a minus sign. When you reach the maximum or minimum zoom setting, further clicking has no effect. Zooming in on a specific area1. Select the Magnifier tool. 2. Drag a box around the area you want to view in more detail. 3. Release the mouse. Using the keyboardIf you have selected another tool from the Tools palette, you can temporarily select the Magnifier tool by holding down ctrl and clicking or dragging the mouse. Hold down Option - ctrl while you click to zoom out. Working with multiple windowsYou can display different views of the same document simultaneously. Any changes you make in one window are shown in all open windows. By creating additional windows and stacking or tiling them, you can view the document in detail and at a distance, in Layout view, in Thumbnails and in Master Pages view at one time. The total number of windows you can display is limited by computer's memory, but the effective limit is the size of your computer screen. Stacking windows allows you to switch quickly between windows which are placed on top of each other. You can also work with more than one document at a time on the screen. Displaying multiple windowsTo display a new window, choose Window/New Window. Freeway opens a new window on top of the original one, displaying the document in the same view. The first window has 1 appended to the document name in the title bar. The new window has the same document name, with the number 2 appended, and so on. Palettes displayed with the original window remain on the screen. Each window becomes active as you click on it. When a window is active, the appropriate menu commands are enabled (they appear in black). Any commands which are not appropriate are disabled (they appear in grey). You can move and resize windows in the normal way to display two or more views of the document simultaneously. Closing a windowTo close a window: 1. Make a window active by clicking in it. 2. Choose File/Close, or click on the close icon in the top left-hand corner. Freeway closes the window. If this is the only open window for the document and changes have been made, a warning message asks if you want to Save the changes. Choose Save or Cancel, as appropriate. Tiling windowsWhen you choose Window/Tile, Freeway arranges any open windows to fill the screen. If you add a new window, the tiled windows are hidden. Choose Tile again to reposition the windows. Stacking windowsWhen you choose Window/Stack, Freeway places the open windows on top of each other, but slightly offset. You can select a window from the stack by clicking on its edge. The selected window is then brought to the top of the stack and becomes active. Working with multiple documentsYou can work with two documents at once by opening a new document without closing the first one. The Macintosh operating System 7.5 and later allows you to work with more than one application at a time, so you can open windows in other applications and display them alongside the Freeway document. You can even drag and place graphics and text between applications offering such facilities. |
